A bridging program for ESL Students

Lakehead English Communication Programs (LECP) is a bridging program designed to improve international students' English language proficiency in order to be more academically successful. International students who successfully meet our academic requirements but are just below our English proficiency requirements are encouraged to participate in LECP. Students who fall into this category are encouraged to apply for their regular Lakehead University program of choice, and once all documents, including English proficiency tests and scores, are received, students will be automatically considered for admission into an LECP.

Once students are admitted, they will be enrolled in one or two non-credit English communication bridging courses to enhance their English language skills and abilities. Upon successful completion of the courses and achievement of the Canadian Languages Benchmark level 8, students will be admitted into their program of study. There is also the option for students to take degree-credit course[s] concurrently, thereby working towards their degree requirements.
